Mindfulness Based Yoga Therapy: MBYT
An integrated approach to bring a mindfulness yoga intervention to Sixth-Form Learners with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Pilot project completed January 2019.
A specifically designed integrated approach of mindfulness, meditation and yoga therapy was applied to 17-18 year old learners with varying abilities, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorders over a 10 week period. The participants were joined by 3 teachers to practice and learn together. The findings were significant with improvements in self-awareness, recognizing ones potential, and ‘feeling better’ after each session, showing that behaviour, imitation skills, social awareness, group participation and sharing were all factors influenced by the bespoke Mindfulness Based Yoga Therapy [MBYT] intervention. The study highlights the potential significance for positive health outcomes in young adults, through a safe, relatively inexpensive and drug-free approach.
~ 100% of participants reported that the MBYT programme helped them to reflect on their thoughts differently and enhance their body awareness.
~ 100% became more aware of their potential and abilities in yoga practice.
~ 90% reported they achieved more than they expected.
~ 90% indicated they always felt better and more positive after a MBYT session and this continued throughout the day.

PharmAveda brought its integrated approach to aid the understanding of the mechanisms that help your body heal from the inside, and how that may require both medicines and meditation to give a combined effort to enhance your health and wellbeing.
